Decorative Painting is a lot of fun!

Last night I went to a One-Stroke decorative painting class being held in a local high school.  It was being offered through the local Parks & Recreation program.   There are 7 students in the class.  Last night we learned how to paint One Stroke Hummingbirds, which are fantasy birds, awfully cute!  Enjoyed visiting with the other students, it was a very pleasant few hours.  I’ve posted a picture of the hummingbird that I painted!

The Clock is Ticking Folks

November 3rd, 2011 .

Well it seems that my sister may be the only one in the family that will really get what she wants for this Christmas since no one is responding to my email that I sent out weeks ago asking for gift suggestions, except my kid sister who didn’t waste any time sending me request for all cotton scrubs for her to wear at work. She even sent me the direct link to site that has a ton of medical uniforms at http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Women/Original-Scrubs/ that she has used before and is thrilled with the prices, the quality and the various styles that they offer there.

It just drives me crazy to have to wait until the last minute to have to find all the presents that are required of me to purchase for our ever growing family. With Christmas less than two months away there really isn’t a whole lot of time left especially since I do most of my shopping online and you have to wait for your purchase to be delivered, which of course takes time.

The Night Sky

November 3rd, 2011 .

For as long as I can remember I’ve always been fascinated with the night sky.  I love to look up at the stars and the moon every time I’m outside after dark.  When I was a school child I read as much as I could find about the constellations, and the stories behind them.

When my children were young, one of them received a telescope for a Christmas present.  We lived out in the country in New England and we set the telescope up on the large deck and spent many hours looking at the night sky.  We were lucky to be able to see many beautiful displays of the “Northern Lights” while we lived up there!  That is something that I miss dreadfully, having moved to the southern state we are in now.

When my first marriage broke up, my ex-hubby kept the telescope, refusing to let my sons bring it with them.  I thought that was terribly unfair, since he never used it, and it was a gift to my kids!  Oh well……  I miss looking at the night sky through the telescope.

Sisterly Love

Guest post written by my buddy Bernardo Graham

Gosh, I love working with my sister. She and I started and event planning service a few years back and it’s slowly grown into the business we have today and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. She and I just get along so well and we have really complimentary skill sets so it’s nice when I don’t know the answer that she usually does. We’ve got a home office at her house, actually, since she had an extra bedroom and it’s all set up with bank card processing software and tow phone lines and a meeting area for new clients. I love being able to work with brides and businesspeople all day long and she’d much rather pour over the details like invitations and caterers so we really work well together. It’s become a full-time money maker for both of us and I think we’re both surprised it’s gone this far. I never imagined this little job would be more than a hobby for the both of us!

Dressmaker’s dummy

October 24th, 2011 .

I love to sew, and have always wanted a dressmaker’s dummy!  My wonderful sister just gave me a used one that her hubby bought at a flea market!  However it came with no instructions, and I have no idea how to adjust it to be my body measurements!  Hmmmm……  Gonna have to play around with it I guess!  I’ve got lots of fabric and patterns for dresses that I want to sew to wear to my Red Hatter’s group dinners!

I’m thrilled to have it!
