It costs a small fortune and it is very difficult to give it a test run prior to paying. I'm in a similar boat now trying to get a crash course to see if it's the program for me. If you're concerned about your budget and debt, a credit counseling session might be a good start. If you check with the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (nfcc.org), you can find an affiliated non-profit in your area. For little or (in the case of some agencies like mine) no cost you can get a detailed look at your budget and get suggestions as to how to adjust for inflation and reduce your debt. The biggest thing I would recommend is just to be very careful where you get your information. For example, a company who sells loans may not be able to give the best, objective advice because they are selling a product. Wherever you go for advice/information, do some homework to find out about the company, and definitely check them out with the Better Business Bureau and your state attorney general's office.
