Pharmacy Tech Classes

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

My Pharmacy Tech Classes are going quite well so far.  I’ve gotten “As” on all of the tests and homework assignments.  I’ve completed the research paper, which isn’t due for another month.  I’ve even been interviewing for work in the local Wal-Mart store for a job as a Pharmacy Technician, and they say that they are very interested in hiring me.  I’m supposed to call them back tomorrow afternoon and see what kind of progress is being made to that end.  I hope I got the job!  We sure could use the money since my hubby lost seven months of pay from being out injured from that car accident he was in last fall.

I’ve been doing some research as to how much money Pharmacy Techs make and to be honest it was not as much as I thought it was when I signed up for the class.  I’m not sure if I would have signed up for the class if I’d realized how little they actually get paid.  It seems to be for a job to require certification and continuing education that companies would pay decent money!  But it seems that in this area where I live getting paid decent money is a pipe dream, which is why most people commute an hour or more to go to work.  And I don’t want to drive that far to go to work, so I have to just swallow my pride and take a lower paying job.

Oh well, I need the money and the job is close to home.  With the price of gas going up as much as it has, and as much as it is going to be going up, I’ll be the lucky one bringing home more money at the end of the week once the costs of commuting are figured into the picture!

Why are they doing this to us?

I was reading a Reuters.com article today that the Senate blocked debate on a bill that would have extended tax credits to consumers who buy hybrid cars and install energy producing windmills and solar arrays.  It sounds to me as if the Senate has some kind of ulterior motive to keep us chained and enslaved to foreign oil.  What’s up with that?

Neighbor is trying pull something off

Monday, June 16th, 2008

We have a neighbor that we think has been trying to do SOMETHING nasty regarding our dogs.  Every now and then something not natural happens that is simply unexplainable without human involvement being a part of the picture.  Every now and then the hooks that attach the cable ties to the stakes pounded in the ground mysteriously become unhooked, or disassembled.  Sometimes we will let the dogs out on their cable ties, and when they come back in one of their collars is missing.  We will scour the yard looking for the collar, and it will be nowhere to be found.  Weeks will go by, and then the collar will reappear on our doorstep.

I don’t know why I even bother

I have been writing up bus discipline referrals quite a bit the past couple of weeks.  The kids keep getting into fights with each other, or they are doing something dangerous, even after being warned to stop.  So finally I started writing up referrals, thinking that if the kid was suspended off of the bus for a day or two, maybe the parent would convince the kid to behave.

Well, none of the kids are getting suspended, all they are getting is a little “pep talk” with the school vice principal, and the behavior doesn’t change.  So I write them up again.  They get another “pep talk.”  Apparently this school won’t suspend a kid unless he shoots or stabs someone!  It has become quite clear that I am totally wasting my time writing up referrals!  I will be SO GLAD when the school year is over.  I hope that next fall when the school year starts again I will have a better job doing something else and won’t have to work driving a school bus!

Driving monkeys

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

I swear that there is one group of elementary school kids that are more monkey than human!  Every five seconds I have to remind them to sit down!  And then I have to tell them to stop hitting each other!  They are loud and rowdy and I am so very glad there are only eight days of school left!

I have had to write up an average of three discipline referrals every day for the past week!  It is getting so very tiring having to deal with these little monkeys.  Last Friday, after reminding everyone to sit down and remain seated, one of the older girls decided to climb over one of the seats.  It was caught on video tape, so she was written up.  I don’t know what they are going to do to her today at school as a disciplinary action, but it would not break my heart to have her kicked off the bus.

I don’t really understand WHY she rides the bus to begin with, she lives across the street and half a block down from the school!  I think it is a sad commentary on how threatened people are that someone is going to abduct their child that they ride the school bus less than one block to school!  I also think it is a sad commentary that a kid can’t sit still and stay out of trouble for half a block!
