I am quite surprised that I have not yet received the license yet from the Board of Pharmacy, saying that I’m a registered Pharmacy Tech. I sent in the paperwork on October 20, and here it is ten days later, and no license. I think that if I don’t get the license by tomorrow’s mail I’m going to make a phone call and see if they got my application and if there are any problems with it.

Don’t have the license yet
Thursday, October 30th, 2008No longer working there
Saturday, October 18th, 2008Well my boss told me that I wasn’t filling prescriptions fast enough – they only allow thirty seconds to fill a prescription! Can you believe that? And she told me that the other ladies were jealous of how quickly I was learning the job and were complaining about me all the time to her, making up lies about me about me being snobbish. The truth is that I’m shy, and they are interpreting it as being a snob. Well, long story short I told her that her place was the most hateful, hostile, and unsupportive place I’ve ever worked and wanted to transfer out of there as soon as possible. Wouldn’t you know it, two days later she fired me under the pretext of my being rude to a customer! Well, I wasn’t rude, and I’m shocked that I got fired, but I am really glad to be out of there! I was on the verge of quitting anyway. So I’m back to driving a school bus until I find a better paying full time job.
Still not working out well
Tuesday, September 30th, 2008I’m afraid that things are not working out well in my job at my local pharmacy. They are not training me to learn the things that I need to learn in order to pass the CBL tests that they make me take, so I flunk the tests. I’ve never flunked a test in my life, so it is quite disturbing! I don’t understand why they think I can pass a test based on training I’m not getting! If I ask them for training I get a lot of resistance.
Almost everyone there skips their breaks, and they get mad at me when I ask permission to take my break. I’m entitled to my breaks and I need them!
The redeeming part of this job is that when I DO take breaks in the employee break room I sit with other employees from other departments and have a lot of nice visits. I enjoy those people a lot!
Not surprised, just disappointed
Monday, August 18th, 2008Well, I’ve been working at my new job for about two weeks now, and I have to say that I’m not surprised, just disappointed to find that people are just as crabby and aggravating here as they have been everywhere I’ve ever worked. I am being trained by several people who keep contradicting each other and telling me to do things “their” way, which is the exact opposite of the other training person’s way. I’m constantly being scolded for doing what I’ve been told to do, and it is very frustrating. I wish I was independently wealthy and could just stay home!
Pharmacy Tech Classes
Sunday, July 6th, 2008My Pharmacy Tech Classes are going quite well so far. I’ve gotten “As” on all of the tests and homework assignments. I’ve completed the research paper, which isn’t due for another month. I’ve even been interviewing for work in the local Wal-Mart store for a job as a Pharmacy Technician, and they say that they are very interested in hiring me. I’m supposed to call them back tomorrow afternoon and see what kind of progress is being made to that end. I hope I got the job! We sure could use the money since my hubby lost seven months of pay from being out injured from that car accident he was in last fall.
I’ve been doing some research as to how much money Pharmacy Techs make and to be honest it was not as much as I thought it was when I signed up for the class. I’m not sure if I would have signed up for the class if I’d realized how little they actually get paid. It seems to be for a job to require certification and continuing education that companies would pay decent money! But it seems that in this area where I live getting paid decent money is a pipe dream, which is why most people commute an hour or more to go to work. And I don’t want to drive that far to go to work, so I have to just swallow my pride and take a lower paying job.
Oh well, I need the money and the job is close to home. With the price of gas going up as much as it has, and as much as it is going to be going up, I’ll be the lucky one bringing home more money at the end of the week once the costs of commuting are figured into the picture!
