I could crochet them myself

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

I saw a headline about a pair of $500 socks and I was intrigued. So I clicked around and found a video that explains it. They look like they are crocheted (I could do that) and they cannot be washed or dry cleaned. The socks have a large fish-net type open-ness to them. I wonder how many pairs of these socks will be sold! What do YOU think of these socks?

Real Estate

Monday, September 20th, 2010

One of my closest friends has been in Real Estate for  going on 20 years now. It is something that she always wanted to be into and she has enjoyed it, for the most part. This economic crisis has placed a huge burden on people just like her that depend on a commission, not a salary, to pay their mortgages and monthly bills with. I’ve learned so much from her about Real Estate and she always has funny and entertaining stories to tell about many of her clients and their homes and properties that she has had dealings with through out the years.

She has seen some breath taking homes and I’ve gotten to tag along with her on more than one occasion and have seen some pretty gorgeous ones myself. It’s always exciting to see not only the outside up and close by the inside of these houses as well. Their great looking huge kitchens, along with the most exquisite tiles used in many of them. Even bathroom tiles are really becoming a huge trend that I’ve fallen in love with recently and would like to incorporate in my bathroom. So I’ve been doing a bit of subway tiles research online and found that the glasstilestore.com site has a tremendous variety of tiles and even offers free shipping, which is a huge savings considering how much shipping tiles must cost these days.

I miss them

When we moved here from New England, I thought that I’d never want to go back there.  Ever.  New England was not kind to me.  Oddly enough, I find myself thinking back from time to time about some of the things that I miss from up there.  For example, down here I don’t seem to ever see any houses with window flower boxes gracing the windows.  Up in New England, it seemed that just about every farm house that I’d drive past had window boxes full of colorful annuals brightening up the houses.

I don’t know why people down here don’t seem to have any use for a pretty window box full of flowers.  Does the box dry out too quickly?  Are the people too hurried to be bothered with watering and caring for them?  Whatever the reason, I find that I miss seeing those splashes of color as I drive along the country roads down here.

Zumba

Friday, July 9th, 2010

I’m on a yahoo community group that was discussing physical fitness and one of the people was writing about taking zumba classes. I had never heard about zumba before! So I decided to go to youtube and check it out. Sure looks like fun! I’m thinking about signing up for classes!

Pharmacy Tech Classes

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

My Pharmacy Tech Classes are going quite well so far.  I’ve gotten “As” on all of the tests and homework assignments.  I’ve completed the research paper, which isn’t due for another month.  I’ve even been interviewing for work in the local Wal-Mart store for a job as a Pharmacy Technician, and they say that they are very interested in hiring me.  I’m supposed to call them back tomorrow afternoon and see what kind of progress is being made to that end.  I hope I got the job!  We sure could use the money since my hubby lost seven months of pay from being out injured from that car accident he was in last fall.

I’ve been doing some research as to how much money Pharmacy Techs make and to be honest it was not as much as I thought it was when I signed up for the class.  I’m not sure if I would have signed up for the class if I’d realized how little they actually get paid.  It seems to be for a job to require certification and continuing education that companies would pay decent money!  But it seems that in this area where I live getting paid decent money is a pipe dream, which is why most people commute an hour or more to go to work.  And I don’t want to drive that far to go to work, so I have to just swallow my pride and take a lower paying job.

Oh well, I need the money and the job is close to home.  With the price of gas going up as much as it has, and as much as it is going to be going up, I’ll be the lucky one bringing home more money at the end of the week once the costs of commuting are figured into the picture!
