As far back as I can remember, I’ve been interested in the Mexican culture. Probably had much to do with the fact that I enjoyed watching Zorro on television as a child. And I think the music is wonderful; it makes me want to dance! I found this great video on YouTube about Cinco de Mayo and wanted to share it with you. Hope you enjoy it!

Skipping class today

Today I decided to play hooky from class today. I went to bed extra late last night and had to get up extra early this morning, and have to go to work later today (and work until 9pm) I was just too tired to go to class. I went to bed so late last night because I had to pick my son up from the airport late (his plane was late, which made it worse) and I had to get up early this morning to take my step-daughter to the airport extra early in the morning this morning – I DID take her to the airport yesterday but her flight was cancelled because of inclement weather so we had to reschedule it for this morning. So I ended up with too little sleep to get through today safely, so I decided to skip class. When I got home from the airport I called my instructor and left a message that I was going to miss class, and I went to bed and took a nice three hour nap! I like naps!

Motorcycle vacations

My hubby has been riding his Harley every minute he can get in on it! He loves to ride! He’s been talking about taking a vacation together and signing up for some Motorcycle Tours through the Eagle Rider Company website that he found. They rent Harleys, but they also rent ATVs, scooters, snowmobiles, dirt bikes, and watercraft. They offer self-drive tours, guided tours, and one-way specials. Naturally they also sell motorcycles! I’m sure my hubby would love to be an Eagle Rider on our next vacation!

My son will probably get a frequent flier credit card

My youngest son finds himself doing a lot of traveling now that he’s out of the public school system. I’ve suggested that he get an Airline Miles Credit Card. I’ve emailed him the link to the airlinecreditcardrewards.com website so he can use their reviews to help pick out the best one for him to order.

I have been very busy this past week. I had to go to my Pharmacy Technician classes on Tuesday and Thursday, and on Wednesday I went to a free techniques course for a decorative painting, the technique was “floating colors.” It has been several years since I took a techniques class for that style of “normal” decorative painting. It was a good class, I was glad that I went. The only problem that I had was getting to the class; it was supposed to be a one hour drive but because of unexpected traffic problems (getting stuck in traffic jams due to accidents) the drive took two hours. I had left the house a half hour earlier than I thought I would have to leave, thinking I would get there a half hour early. Instead I was a half hour late!

So that was discouraging, but once I got to class and set up, things went well. I signed up for another free class and one that I have to pay for that is a week-end seminar.

My client is going to Spain

My client in New England has told me that he is planning to fly to Malaga Spain next month with his family for a two week vacation. He has asked me to see if my step-daughter, who still lives up there is willing to stay at his house while he is gone and take care of his plants and pets. He is planning on staying with some friends that have already rented a house for the period of time they are going to be there. He has asked me to do some research and find the cheapest Car hire malaga rates that I can find. I told him that I found the best deals for him at www.carrentals.co.uk. It was a really strange bus ride home

Today being the last day of school for the school year, it was a very strange ride taking the kids home after school. I could literally feel the emotions of the middle schoolers who were leaving middle school for the last time; the girls were very teary eyed. They asked me to honk the horn as I was leaving the school, and since all of the other buses were doing that, I obliged. It was really strange, seeing all of the people waving to the buses as they were pulling out. Even though I’ve been looking forward to the last day of school, looking forward to NOT having to drive the bus, I got emotional myself. I guess I’m just a sentimental fool! I don’t even know most of these kids names, yet seeing how emotional they were was choking me up too!

The last elementary run was really nice, I let the kids sit where ever they wanted to sit, instead of making them sit in their assigned seats. The first bus stop of dropping kids off, the lady who runs the day care came out to the bus and climbed aboard the bus and presented me with a bouquet of flowers and a big warm hug and thanked me profusely for driving the school bus. I was so surprised, and so very pleased. I’m getting choked up right now just remembering it!

Jogging cow

This morning I was driving to work, and found myself behind a slower than usual school bus, driving with its four-way hazard flashing lights on. We were on a heavily wooded narrow winding country road, and I figured that we were following a farmer on a slow moving tractor or similar piece of farming equipment. There was no clear chance to pass, and I resigned myself to the thought that I was going to be late for work.

After a few minutes of following the bus, I watched it pull into the left lane (no, it was NOT a passing lane) to pass whatever it had been following. I was quite surprised to observe that what it had been following was a jogging cow! This cow had somehow broken free from its pasture and was running down the middle of the road. It was running in the same direction that the bus and I were driving, and after the bus passed the cow I was left wondering “OK, now what do I do about this cow? If I start to pass it, will it charge at me and damage the car?” Fortunately within a few moments the woods ended and the road was going through open country, and the cow ran off of the road and towards someones house. As I passed the cow (it was still running in the same general direction) I looked at the poor animal and I thought that it looked perfectly terrified. I hope it found its way home eventually!

Happy but hectic

Yesterday as soon as I got off of work from delivering the school kids to their homes I jumped into my car and went to pick my hubby up from his work, then we went to the Vienna Metro station to pick up our son “J” who is here for a one week visit before going off to his summer internship in Philadelphia. We arrived at the Metro just about 5:12, and waited just a few minutes for “J” to arrive. Since it was rush hour, we decided to eat dinner at the Bob Evans restaurant in Oakton to wait for the traffic to die down.

I tried their new Bob-B-Que ribs, I have to say there was hardly any meat on them and they were dry. I won’t order them again!

After supper we drove home, got home about 8pm. I stayed up to visit until about 10pm then went to bed. Today was sort of laid back visiting while hectic doing a little bit of housework, getting ready for a big family party scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Yeah, an oxymoron, laid back/hectic. I know.

I’m happy because my kids are home!

Hectic day

Well, today has been pretty hectic. I drove my school bus run this morning; during the layover my missing friend showed up. She had been out sick with an inner ear infection. I was so glad to see her! I told her I was worried that she was the bus driver that had the heart attack last Friday!

After the bus run I had to dash home and change my clothes and hurry off to the Pharmacy Technician course. This time I found a parking space closer to the building (YAY!) The class this week was held in a very small conference room that was designed to hold a maximum of six people, There are ten people in the class, so the room was very crowded!

There was a pop quiz today, I got a 100% on the test (YAY!) I was surprised that I did that well, I was sure I would fail it completely!

So now I’m home and getting ready to check my email, do a little bit of straightening up and cook supper.
