I’ve got an idea stuck in my head, and I can thank my kid sister for that. She had brought up some time ago the idea of a few of us close female family member taking a holiday trip to some place nice and warm, like Maui for example. She keeps talking about this and it has really gotten my excited about doing something like this maybe for the next holiday season, after this year’s one that is up and coming quicker than I’d like it to. This year no one has any extra money for presents or a trip and a stay at one of the plush Maui Condos that we have been talking and dreaming of so quite some time now.

Who wouldn’t enjoy a nice relaxing holiday season for a change. Instead of dealing with all the stress and madness that takes place during those crazy months that so many people and families get put through each and every year. Sitting on a tropical beach, soaking up the sun, people watching and drinking one of those drinks with the little umbrella in it sounds so much better than dealing with the wet, cold, nasty weather that comes along during those holiday months.

One of my favorite places to go for a good sub is Subway. It is too bad that the Subway that is closest to where I live isn’t a better one. The people that work there are way too grumpy, slow and leave a lot to be desired when it comes to Customer Service. I’d love to be a Mystery Shopper and go in there and just raise some eyebrows when I rate them unworthy of running a Subway store. At first I just thought my timing was just off with them, but each and every time I go there it is the same thing. They don’t even say thank you when you complete the transaction by placing money from my hand into theirs, which just burns me to no end.

It’s a pain to have to drive an additional 15 minutes to get the other Subway, but it’s worth the extra time and extra gas that it takes to get over there since the sandwiches even taste batter that are served to me with a smile on their face and a “thank you, please come again” which keeps me coming back just as asked.

I’m seeing more and more places using various crowd control products, you know the classy looking stanchions with their plush velvet rope and brass looking fittings all polished up that we all see at banks, concerts, grocery stores and the like . It’s a good concept and a necessary one, especially at carnivals and amusement parks. I remember when King’s Dominion first opened up, it started out as a wildlife park, the kind that you could drive your car through the park and see numerous, various wild animals roaming around in the “wild” You were given a tape to listen to if you had a cassette player in your car and you could also purchase food to feed the animals as you drove through, which was pretty cool. After a few years they built a mono rail that you could ride in to see the animals and also put in a few carnival rides and the whole place did a major turn around and has been growing and raking in the money ever since.

Back when it first opened the rides there were no barricades to keep line jumpers in line, but that didn’t last long. Many a fist fights broke out between folks that were tired, hot, hungry, thirsty, dealing with kids and all the hassles that go along with a long line with hundreds of strangers surrounding you. A line jumper can be the last straw that makes some one blow up and this place isn’t laid out for a safe fist fight.

It’s really sad to think that we have gotten to the point where we need such things to keep us safe from ourselves. But all it takes is one bad apple, as they say……

I appreciate the guest post, Jamie Guy

Every year I spend the holidays with my family and friends in my hometown. I have lived in this town all my life and never really travelled far from it. It seemed I had it all right there. But, about ten years ago, I decided to take a special trip around the holidays to visit an old friend who had moved away years ago. This friend had never married or had children and I assumed spent each holiday alone.

I made my travel plans and when the big day came to leave, I made sure I set myHome Security alarm and off I went to the airport. I was so surprised to see that my friend had come to meet me when my plane landed and it was great to see her. What I didn’t know was that my friend had planned to show me exactly how she spent each holiday where she lived.

She took me on the holiday to a local homeless shelter and she introduced me to the many residents who lived there. It seems that my friend had been doing this for many years and she knew everyone there. We served them all dinner and dessert and sat and talked with a great number of them. It was such a rewarding feeling at the end of the day. It made me realize that my perfect life wasn’t as perfect as it seemed and now I plan to spend many more holidays with my friend.

I can only imagine how hard a major move can be for a family that has been deep rooted in the same house for generations such is the case for my aunt’s family. They are relocating come the first of the year, as soon as they can get Christmas and all that goes along with over and done with. As a matter of fact, most of the presents are going to be placed in a few select boxes and sent ahead separate from the majority of the stuff that they have managed to accumulate in the “old homestead” for the past 75 years or so. A good amount of stuff that is still there belongs to several other family members as well that will need to be taken care of, and soon. January is sneaking right up there.

They have all ready lined up several Moving Estimates. Using the Internet made this task of finding the perfect Local Movers for the job a much easier task to tackle. There are a lot of Moving Companies out there and there are many factors involved in moving that need to be taken into consideration of course. Sites live movers.com can assist with Long Distance Movers and provide you with Local Moving Quotes as well. A good resource for potential movers.

I’ll be there to help when they call. Moving in the winter is going to bite, but oh well, nothing you can do about it, just git r done!!!!

Written by my friend Ian Cruz

My family often votes to take a day trip to the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga. We all love going to the aquarium and getting up close to all the amazing creatures. The Tennessee Aquarium is supposedly the highest rated aquarium in the US. I would certainly rate it the best, having been to several others during my lifetime. There really is an amazing variety of exhibits featuring so many different plants and animals. I never tire of visiting this aquarium, there is always something new to see.

When the day arrives for our trip to the Chattanooga, we pack a lunch for the road. It usually takes us a couple of hours to get there and we have found that taking lunch helps us get us to our destination quicker and saves the expense of eating out. Before we head out the door, my husband makes sure that our home security alarm from information home security is set. Then, off we go!

After we arrive at the aquarium, we head to see the birds. We are bird lovers and have a pet parrot. One of the things that we love about the Tennessee Aquarium is all the cool birds. The penguin exhibit is always a popular place and I never get tired of watching them. They are really comical. My sons love checking out the sharks. There is so much to see and do at the aquarium; it is quite an educational experience for children.

Let’s face it – the county fair is one big guilty pleasure.

It is a must-do event on my calendar every summer and has been for most of my adult life. I love watching the 4-H kids show their animals, and I’ve been known to sneak a peak at the lambs, cows and bunnies after the children put them back in the barns. I love the amusement rides, especially the Ferris wheel although I’ve always been a little afraid of heights. And I love the games, even though I often spend more money trying to win than the prizes are worth.

But the truth is there is one thing I like the best — the food. Ok, I know my doctor would tell me that most of it is a little unhealthy, but can eating good stuff ever really be bad? Give me an apple dipped in caramel or a funnel cake sprinkled with powdered sugar. Give me deep-fried veggies or a greasy blooming onion. Give me a huge dip of chocolate ice cream in a waffle cone – with sprinkles, please.

My children love the fair too. They’ve been enjoying the sights and sounds with me for as long as I can remember. And when I take them home, they often want to turn on fox to watch shows about the animals they have seen. As for me, I watch the food channels!

I think that I have done a pretty good job in keeping piles of receipts and keeping my Excel spread sheets up to date, in an effort to get the best bang for my buck come next year’s tax return with good old Uncle Sam. I’m thinking that I may get back enough to put a decent down payment on a gently used vehicle, like an very sweet looking audi 23 or a cute looking toyota prius. My mother is pushing for a kia sorento, while my father is insisting on buying American, like a nice ford taurus. Everyone has their opinions and favorites that they feel strongly about. So it will a challenge to find the perfect vehicle for me, but I do have plenty of time to figure it all out.

I’m so grateful for the Internet, it will make this challenging and time consuming task a much easier and smoother one to tackle. I can’t imagine running all over town and possibly some of the other surrounding towns and counties from dealership to dealership and all that goes along with that part of the very labor intensive and hard work involved in this process. Thecarconnection.com is a great resource that I’ve been spending a bit of time checking into on some of the vehicles that I can dream of owning and having the privilege of driving them, along with some of the more affordable variety that there is now to choose from. I have a lot of decisions to make, but I’m ready to take it to the next level and start doing some legwork before the holidays come around and sweep me away from tasks such as this.

I’ve just been informed that next year’s family get together is going to be held in Myrtle Beach. Sounds good to me, I love Myrtle Beach and haven’t been there in some time and have been looking for an opportunity to spend some time there. I think that I will start looking around online and see what type of resorts in Myrtle Beach would be a good choice for us to use.

Since the whole family enjoys playing golf I want to find a nice Myrtle Beach hotel that will help us not only with the lodging side of it, but help us with tee times as well. I’ve heard that there is some awesome golfing to be found in that area and I look forward to finding out for myself.

In the email that I received announcing the location we were provided with the link of http://avistaresort.com which really sparked my interest and is making me want to see what all there is to offer online for this particular event that will hopefully be a total blast for everyone involved. But first we have to get through winter, I hope it isn’t a bad one and we get through it quickly.

My mother was born and raised in the Boston area, so I have always had a soft spot in my heart for New England. for a long time, Boston was nothing more than Logan International Airport, where I would switch planes and connect to another airline. But then my best friend got transferred to Cambridge and I learned about real estate in Boston. I learned about life in Boston from the perspective of someone who was going to live there.

The best advice I can share for someone interested in buying a place in Boston is to find a seasoned realtor like one from the Bushari Group Real Estate to help you. A lot of people discount the value of having a good agent to work with. This can be a huge mistake – you risk paying too much for a house, ending up in the wrong neighborhood, or even losing the home of your dreams to another buyer who outbids you because his agent knows how to negotiate and close the deal.

Boston Condos are a great way to break into the market. Condos are great for people with no kids, no pets, and a busy lifestyle that they don’t want to sacrifice for lawn maintenance and household repairs. A lot of condos have great amenities that even homeowners don’t get to enjoy, such as use of a party room, swimming pools, and a downtown location right in the middle of fantastic nightlife or easy commutes.
