Rodeo in Las Vegas

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

When we were really young, our parents took my brothers, sisters, and me to a rodeo.  I was so very young that I don’t remember where it was, but I remember how fascinated I was with the show.  I loved everything about it!  The sounds, sights, smells, the excitement!  I’ve always loved horses, and this was just like being in heaven to me!  Although I generally don’t enjoy competition, when I was younger it did not really seem like a competition to me between people, like a race would be.  This seemed to be between animal and human.  I didn’t understand at first that the goal was to stay on the animal longer than the other competitors, but I did figure that out later.  I really didn’t care who won as far as which rider stayed on the longest to win the prize.  I just got caught up in the excitement of staying on the bucking horse or bull, period.  I also enjoyed the roping contests and the barrell racing.  I just loved it all!  I’d love to go to more rodeos, but to be honest I’ve never had the chance to go since!

My sister tells me that she and her hubby are going to go to Las Vegas this December to celebrate their wedding anniversary, and while they are in Las Vegas they are going to go to the National Finals Rodeo (NFR!) They are getting the NFR Tickets over the Internet at www.teamonetickets.com.  I am so jealous!!!!

I’m not the adventurous type

I don’t consider myself the action-adventure type, but my kids are, and they want to check out Hot Air Balloon Rides for something to do sometime this summer during their school break.  They found a website called www.xperiencedays.com that sells action adventures and they have gotten very excited over the prospect of doing some exciting things this summer.

They tell me that the company offers dragster rides, flying lessons, hang gliding experiences, horseback riding, kayaking experiences, glider flights, cruises, and air combat simulator experiences.  They also have a zero-gravity experience that they think would be really fun to do.  This company offers experience adventures all over the United States, and they sell gift certificates so that the recipient can choose what experience they would like to participate in.   I’d probably choose a quiet cruise!

Hubby’s brother is going to Las Vegas

Monday, April 21st, 2008

My hubby’s brother Dan called us over the weekend, to talk to my hubby.  Dan and his wife are planning a trip to Las Vegas in September, and they have invited us to join them.  Neither of us have ever been to Las Vegas before, so this is something we are seriously thinking about.  I’m not a gambler by any means, every time I “take a chance” on ANYTHING I lose – I guarantee it!  My hubby, on the other hand, likes to gamble a little bit.

I would like to go to Las Vegas, however, and see some shows while we are there, I have heard so many of my friends and family and co-workers rave about how much fun they had during their Vegas trips eating fabulous foods and watching great shows, so I think I’d like to go just for that!

Dan is very excited about buying tickets to a boxing rematch between Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr.  Dan LOVES to watch boxing matches, and he has learned that they are having a rematch in Las Vegas on September 20, so he is planning to attend the rematch.  He bought two tickets to the match and he wants my hubby to go with him.

He bought the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Oscar De La Hoya tickets over the Internet last week, and has now found out that his wife doesn’t want to go to the match, so he has an extra ticket!  (Now I understand the invite to join them!)
