Expanding business on the Internet

My brother-in-law tells me that he has decided to start selling mini-bikes and was trying to convince us to buy one. Yeah, right. I don’t think so! But he’s all fired up over the business opportunity and was telling us that he has hired a professional ecommerce design company to help him sell them over the Internet.

In addition to helping him with his web design, they will be able to actually help him build his business, as part of their e-commerce solutions program. What’s so exciting about that is that they will hold his hand every step of the way, with marketing and SEO, with a shopping cart built into the website, and with business strategy solutions.

To be perfectly honest, I think that he would be better off sticking with his current area of expertise – security. He has special training in de-fusing explosive devices. I would think that would be a booming business! (Pun intended.)

Anyway, I’m glad that he’s getting the help of real professionals, I worry about starting a business in this hostile economy!

After talking with a friend who read my blog recently, she asked why I would put all this SEO information up on my website that could help spammers achieve higher rankings? So I simply told her this, all this stuff is out on the internet and believe me when I say the spammers know alot more then the couple of simple plugins I posted about.

I’m just trying to have a place of my own on the web to store and share information easily with family and friends. As I have more time to devote to writing, I hope to include more family oriented things, like sharing photos of our new house and even recipes.

So now I am able to fend off spam with Askismet and relay to the search engines my website pages via Sitemaps so now I am adding the share this plugin to my blog in order for people to be able to easily add my posts to thier favorite bookmarking website such as Delicious or Digg. This is good SEO because then I may also get a backlink from whatever bookmarking service the reader uses. Just another great plug in for WordPress blogs and it is easy to install and get working.

Getting this Google sitemap generator plugin is the first one I downloaded, the reason why is, that search engines like Google like to use sitemaps in order to see your and cawl your entire website.
