New Family Members!

Guest post written by Carla Doughut

My husband John and I just purchased two new little puppies for our children, and you should have seen their faces. Their reactions to the new puppies were absolutely priceless. I’m so glad that we were able to bring our two little ones this much happiness-it’s like nothing they’ve ever been thrilled about before. The puppies have been a great fit for the place, too, but they still need a lot of training. Right now, we are still in the process of potty training them both; next comes furniture training (as in, how to keep them off!). That’s been quite a challenge, but we are hoping to get these two little fellas housebroken so that can stay inside and spend maximum time with the kids. We hate to leave the dogs outside all day.

While we got gifts for the kids, John also got a present for me. He got some help from the Home Pro Improvement website and called some people to help him remodel the kitchen!! I’m finally going to have the kitchen I always dreamed of and I’m so excited. It’s really been a good month for all of us!

Why would anyone do that?

While standing in line, waiting to pay for my gas this morning, one of the headlines in the local paper was about a house that had been broken into and flooded by a burglar early last night. Who ever  broke into this house clogged the upstairs shower drain with various items that they found around the house and then they left the water on while they stole valuables from the master bedroom. It seems that they before they left the house they attempted (and promptly failed) to clog a drain in the lower level of this house while leaving this water tap open and running, full blast until police were able to turn everything off again and assess the situation.

Stories like this really get to me.

A Special Trip for the Holidays

Monday, January 17th, 2011

I appreciate the guest post, Jamie Guy

Every year I spend the holidays with my family and friends in my hometown. I have lived in this town all my life and never really travelled far from it. It seemed I had it all right there. But, about ten years ago, I decided to take a special trip around the holidays to visit an old friend who had moved away years ago. This friend had never married or had children and I assumed spent each holiday alone.

I made my travel plans and when the big day came to leave, I made sure I set myHome Security alarm and off I went to the airport. I was so surprised to see that my friend had come to meet me when my plane landed and it was great to see her. What I didn’t know was that my friend had planned to show me exactly how she spent each holiday where she lived.

She took me on the holiday to a local homeless shelter and she introduced me to the many residents who lived there. It seems that my friend had been doing this for many years and she knew everyone there. We served them all dinner and dessert and sat and talked with a great number of them. It was such a rewarding feeling at the end of the day. It made me realize that my perfect life wasn’t as perfect as it seemed and now I plan to spend many more holidays with my friend.

Git R Done

I can only imagine how hard a major move can be for a family that has been deep rooted in the same house for generations such is the case for my aunt’s family. They are relocating come the first of the year, as soon as they can get Christmas and all that goes along with over and done with. As a matter of fact, most of the presents are going to be placed in a few select boxes and sent ahead separate from the majority of the stuff that they have managed to accumulate in the “old homestead” for the past 75 years or so. A good amount of stuff that is still there belongs to several other family members as well that will need to be taken care of, and soon. January is sneaking right up there.

They have all ready lined up several Moving Estimates. Using the Internet made this task of finding the perfect Local Movers for the job a much easier task to tackle. There are a lot of Moving Companies out there and there are many factors involved in moving that need to be taken into consideration of course. Sites live movers.com can assist with Long Distance Movers and provide you with Local Moving Quotes as well. A good resource for potential movers.

I’ll be there to help when they call. Moving in the winter is going to bite, but oh well, nothing you can do about it, just git r done!!!!

A Nice Massage At A Mary Kay Party

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

Over the weekend I went to a co workers house for a Mary Kay make-over party.  It was a small turnout, but everyone was very nice and we had a good time.  We had snacks and beverages, played a few games, won some pretty cool prizes.  Then we all spent some time doing make-overs on each other and had some good laughs which is always a nice welcome.

I was given the nickle tour of the house, since I’d never been there before.  I do so enjoy looking at how everyone decorates their homes, and like to think about how I might incorporate their good ideas, or avoid their bad ones!  They had recently redecorated their family room in a contemporary fashion, and had included one of those new massage chairs!  Everyone at the party had the chance to sit in the massage chair for a few minutes to see how wonderful the massage was.  Now I know what I want for Christmas this year!
