Redecorating guest bedroom soon

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

A few weeks ago my SIL sent us a gift from where she is stationed overseas – a very beautiful burgundy & gold tablecloth.  I couldn’t figure out where to put it for a while, but it eventually ended up in the guest bedroom.  Now I need to re-do the window treatment to make the room look nicer.

Window blinds for media room

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

My hubby has told me that he wants to get some black out window blinds for our media room.  He has been having a horrible time with sun glare on the television screen when he tries to watch his television shows and movies.  So I’ve gone to the website Justblinds.com to see what they have to offer that I would like for that room.

I’ve found some 3/4″ blackout single cell shades with a free top-down-bottom-up feature with an insulating factor of R-5.  That’s a really good insulating factor for window blinds!  They have six different colors of that type of blind, and they offer free samples and free shipping.  I’m going to order some free samples and see what I think of them before I order.

Spa covers

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

My client in New England sent me an email today.  There was a recent bad storm in his area that resulted in a large tree falling on his spa/hot tub.  He has had that tub for at least twenty years now, and he uses it every day.  So he was very upset that the tree fell on it.  He had to hire a tree removal service to remove the tree.  After that was done, he got the chance to get a better look at the tub to see what kind of damage was done.   The tub itself is slightly scratched, but the cover was completely demolished.  So he tells me that he wants me to do some comparison shopping for replacement Hot Tub Covers to replace the one that he had.  It’s just as well; his old cover was looking pretty sad anyway, and I had been after him for years to buy a new spa cover, just for aesthetic reasons if nothing else.

I have found an Internet company called The Cover Guy that sells replacement spa covers and replacement hot tub covers.  They have a great selection of covers especially designed specifically for the Northern States.  They are having a special for the month of June where they are offering free shipping anywhere in the US and Canada, and they guarantee the best quality and lowest prices anywhere.  Their website shows three different levels of foam thickness for three different climates; mild, moderate and harsh.  I’ll be telling my client to order the harsh climate cover because where he lives it often gets below twenty below zero in the winter time.

I also want to tell him to buy a hydraulic lifter because he is approaching his 80’s and the time is rapidly coming that he will not be able to just haul the cover off of the tub manually.  I’d love to see him buy a lifter that will lift the cover with just a push of a button!

Between the bus runs

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

There is some layover time between school bus runs, and the bus drivers sometimes congregate and chat for a few minutes during the layover.  Such was the case today, and as I joined the group one of the ladies was talking about decorating her new house.  She was complaining about how hot her house was getting during the day, and it isn’t even the heat of summer yet!  I suggested that she put some new blinds in her windows to block out the sunlight, which would help to keep her house cooler.  I suggested that she check out the Nobrainerblinds website for her blinds because that website offers free samples and free shipping, and gives really good directions on how to measure the windows so that the blinds will fit.  They have a great selection of blinds, so I’m sure she will find what she needs and likes there!

A little bit scared

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

A few weeks ago my hubby thought he heard someone tapping at one of our windows shortly after I left for work one morning.  It really shook him up.  Then when he heard me talking about that recent gang initiation gone bad at the local gas station, where a guy climbed into the back of someone’s car to try to kill the driver, he really was shook up.  Now he is talking a lot about doing something to beef up our home security.  I’ve found a website called homesecurityinformation.com that has a lot of articles about home security.  It talks about different methods and products, and gives a lot of good advice.  I’ve told my hubby to check it out before buying anything.
