Tea

Friday, October 14th, 2011

Tea is one of my favorite beverages.  I love to drink a cup of tea in the morning when I first get up.  My youngest son also enjoys tea when he first gets up.  I learned to love tea when I was a little girl.  My parents drank tea in the morning, the basic black pekoe tea with sugar and milk.  It was a great treat to be allowed to have a sip of it in the morning!

Real Men Wear Pink

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

I love how each October so many good folks do so many good thing for breast cancer awareness. I went into my favorite lunch restaurant and was tickled to see some of the guys working there wearing pink shirts and/or pick hats, wearing them proudly, which I think is such a turn on and a delight. Back in the day any man that would wear anything pink would have been harassed something fierce.

I remember working at an office back when I was nineteen. My boss walked in wearing a new pink shirt and I complimented him on how nice that pink shirt looked on him and I was told by another office employee that I should never say that a man wears anything pink, that I should refer to it as a “light red” shirt.  LOL

Anyway, it seems that there are more and more breast cancer awareness products being offered to the general public and I would love to find something that I could feel good about wearing to help support this worthy cause. Good thing I look good in pink!

A Mother’s Work Is Never Done

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

Our oldest son has always had issues with his teeth, and now that he is grown and out on his own I’m afraid that he isn’t taking his oral hygiene as seriously as he should be and I’m not happy about it one bit. I have spent so money on this kid’s mouth that it just isn’t funny and to think that he isn’t following up on all the time, money, effort and work that has been put into that mouth of his just jerks my chain.

His girlfriend sent me an email today informing me that she thinks that he needs to see a Periodontist and is asking me to step into the picture and urge him to find a Periodontist that will take his insurance and is taking new patients. So I have decided to do a bit of the leg work for him and went to smilegeneration.com to see if I could find a Periodontist for him. I love how the Internet makes a task such as this a much easier task to tackle, it sure beats thumbing through the Big Yellow Book trying to find what you want and need. I don’t even have any phone books in my house any more, they were just taking up space and collecting dust so as soon as one arrives at the end of the drive way they go straight into the paper recycling bin and good riddance to them all.

So I did find a couple of Periodontists that fit the bill and I have sent him an email with the information that is needed and I can only hope that he takes it from there, if not I guess I will have go into my “nag” mode and I really don’t like going there any more than I have to.

Cool Cotton For The Summer Heat

Friday, July 15th, 2011

This summer has been so hot that I haven’t been able to enjoy any of the outside activities that I usually participate in, due to the extreme heat. It seems that the older I get the worse I am with dealing with extreme temperatures, hot or cold. I’m having a hard time finding the right kind of clothes to wear during this heat wave of a summer. It seems that all of the shorts that I usually wear during the summer just aren’t cutting the mustard, they seem to tight and constricting which is so uncomfortable to begin with and when the sweat starts into the picture I am so miserable. Even my deodorant is failing me this year, I’m just a mess.

So, my best friend came up with a great idea and sent me the link to http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/ and told me to pick out a set of cotton scrubs that I wouldn’t mind wearing in public this summer. I was amazed to see all of the varieties of medical uniforms that are out there for our good folks that are in the medical field. So it didn’t take me long to find several outfits that I wouldn’t mind sporting around town. I put my order in and they should be arriving in short order and I’m excited to find out how they look and fit and mainly how they feel out in this outrageous heat. Thanks BFF for the idea, hope it works!

We Fought City Hall and We Won!!!!

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

It has been a long time coming but the park/playground that we fought so hard to get is finally going to start being built any week now. We have a lot of kids that need a place to play close by, all of the other parks are miles away, so we raised some awareness to City Hall and won, how about that? So much for the old saying that you can’t fight City Hall!

It isn’t going to be a huge area, but sufficient enough for some Picnic Tables and a scattering of Park Benches along with one of the new fangled playground equipment that is safe and durable, most of it made from recycled materials, which was a key selling point for everyone.  As a matter of fact if I remember correctly most of the Site Furnishings are to be made of recycled materials.

Too bad we couldn’t convenience them to put a few of those comfortable Adirondack chairs for the adults to sit in instead of the hard park benches that you see in every park all across the country, ugh. But you can’t have everything and I’m grateful for what we are getting. The whole neighborhood will benefit from it, we have a lot of good folks that live around here and not too many trouble makers to worry about.

I can’t wait to see how it all comes about. If you stand in our front yard and look down the street you can see the future site, so we will have a bird’s eye view of the whole process from beginning to end.
