I had a large crowd over to the house on Thanksgiving – one of the largest crowds yet. There were twenty-three family members, two of which were younger than two years old. The oldest was eighty, so it was quite a variety of ages. I was really glad that my son took the initiative to get out his old Brio train set to entertain the toddlers – they set up the train set at the end of the hallway just past the bathroom, so they were out of the way. Everyone had a really good time – it truly was a miracle! So I am giving thanks for the good family gathering this Thanksgiving.

Giving thanks
Sunday, November 27th, 2011I might sew some things for around the house
Monday, November 21st, 2011One of my biggest joys is creating things – I love to make things with my hands. It brings me great joy to decorate my house with things that I have made. I am a “true blue” crafter. One of my favorite “crafting” past-times is sewing. I love to sew quilts, quillows, pillows, curtains, clothing, bedspreads - I love to sew! One of my favorite pastimes is wandering through as many fabric stores, just drooling over all of the fabulous fabrics and trims, dreaming of all of the great things I could create with all the great “stuff” I find there. I especially love looking at designer upholstery fabric, dreaming about how great my old sofa would look with that fabric on it!
Decorative Painting is a lot of fun!
Wednesday, November 9th, 2011
Last night I went to a One-Stroke decorative painting class being held in a local high school. It was being offered through the local Parks & Recreation program. There are 7 students in the class. Last night we learned how to paint One Stroke Hummingbirds, which are fantasy birds, awfully cute! Enjoyed visiting with the other students, it was a very pleasant few hours. I’ve posted a picture of the hummingbird that I painted!
Sisterly Love
Thursday, November 3rd, 2011Guest post written by my buddy Bernardo Graham
Gosh, I love working with my sister. She and I started and event planning service a few years back and it’s slowly grown into the business we have today and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. She and I just get along so well and we have really complimentary skill sets so it’s nice when I don’t know the answer that she usually does. We’ve got a home office at her house, actually, since she had an extra bedroom and it’s all set up with bank card processing software and tow phone lines and a meeting area for new clients. I love being able to work with brides and businesspeople all day long and she’d much rather pour over the details like invitations and caterers so we really work well together. It’s become a full-time money maker for both of us and I think we’re both surprised it’s gone this far. I never imagined this little job would be more than a hobby for the both of us!
Dressmaker’s dummy
Monday, October 24th, 2011I love to sew, and have always wanted a dressmaker’s dummy! My wonderful sister just gave me a used one that her hubby bought at a flea market! However it came with no instructions, and I have no idea how to adjust it to be my body measurements! Hmmmm…… Gonna have to play around with it I guess! I’ve got lots of fabric and patterns for dresses that I want to sew to wear to my Red Hatter’s group dinners!
I’m thrilled to have it!
