My home page is Yahoo.com, so first thing I see are the day’s big news stories, celebrety headlines along with a few sport stories with some filler here and there with interesting tips on a variety of subjects that I check into from time to time.

Today the one that caught my eye was The When-to-Wash-It Handbook, which is now placed some where in the Shopping category with countless other interesting and some times wacky articles that hopefully with enlighten, educate and entertain you. I didn’t necessarily agree with the time frames that they provided the readers as to when to wash some of their clothing items, but for the most part I guess I’m doing correctly, as far as this list goes.

Today’s students really have some mighty fine advantages over what we had available to us only a few short decades ago. The computer obviously had made the biggest impact on education since school was invented! I can’t even imagine how my schooling would have went if we had had computers along with Internet access to bring the whole world right to our fingertips, eyes and ears like they have today in most classrooms across the country.

I was looking web surfing for a bit last night and found an interesting site that offers online tutoring for an amazing amount of subjects for today’s students. Tutorvista.com is a good site to check out if you are, or know anyone in the market for this type of assistance. There are Reviews for tutorvista all over the place. You can even find Reviews for tutorvista on Wikipedia! I ran across the Tutorvista Review that got me interested in them was on the consumersearch site, which is a site that I use frequently and I find very useful.

Anyway they have the largest assortment of classes that I could have ever imagined, for just about every subject for every grade level. They provide the student with 24/7 access with a live tutor and even have a free trial offer that you can try out to see if what they have to offer can help you with your personal educational needs.

So if you are interested in finding out more about this subject, you can read a good Tutorvista Review or two, or three, at tutorvistareview.com to start off with.

I can remember when I was in elementary school I was very interested in nature. I really enjoyed field trips that involved going to things that were related to nature. I was always fascinated with classes that had to do with conservation. Our natural resources are so limited, and we are wasting so many of them! Especially water! So I’ve become interested in rain harvesting as a way to do my part in water conservation.

What could be easier than setting out several rain barrels around the house and yard? A few rain water barrels placed around the garden would make it really easy to keep the garden watered without having to drain our well! And they would make life a lot easier for people who use public water systems when their counties declare water rationing rules! And one water conservation tip from me – don’t run the tap water while you are brushing your teeth! There is no need for all of that water to be going down the drain!

Since I have several close friends that are furthering their Education using the Walden University online degree programs I have taken to reading The Chronicle of Higher Education online from time to time. It always has some quality articles that I have found interesting and entertaining as well.

I have been following the story of how as of last year, Anheuser-Busch has started marketing a line of team-color Bud Light cans that are to appeal to sports fans in select markets. It seems that when the beer’s in your team’s colors that drinking seems safer and that has people up in arms about how that might encourage binge drinking and consumption by minors.

I can see how people (mainly school administrators) would be concerned about this marketing strategy. We have always had a problem with students drinking. Not just college kids, but high schoolers, middle schoolers and even some of the grade school kids are drinking and we all know how bad that can be for all concerned. You would think that companies that are making and selling alcohol would be a bit more cautious with their marketing strategies, I mean I’m sure that they have kids as well and that they should be more concerned with their safety rather than the all mighty dollar that they are always chasing after with little or no concern for what their products can do to people, especially our children.

While visiting my sister and her family I found that my 12 year old niece was looking on the internet to find how to fix her Nintendo DS, which I thought was pretty smart of her. She found out that it is most likely the fuse, and then she found a video on You Tube that shows how to fix the problem. Then, she had to find where to purchase the needed fuse and the only site that she was able to find one at is in the U.K. and the cost was written in Pounds.

She asked me how much a Pound was in American dollars and I was stumped. I can never remember if it is more or less than our American dollar. So I left her with the task of finding out how much the pound is and am waiting for her to email me the answer. I’m curious to see what she comes up with.

Written by my friend Ian Cruz

My family often votes to take a day trip to the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga. We all love going to the aquarium and getting up close to all the amazing creatures. The Tennessee Aquarium is supposedly the highest rated aquarium in the US. I would certainly rate it the best, having been to several others during my lifetime. There really is an amazing variety of exhibits featuring so many different plants and animals. I never tire of visiting this aquarium, there is always something new to see.

When the day arrives for our trip to the Chattanooga, we pack a lunch for the road. It usually takes us a couple of hours to get there and we have found that taking lunch helps us get us to our destination quicker and saves the expense of eating out. Before we head out the door, my husband makes sure that our home security alarm from information home security is set. Then, off we go!

After we arrive at the aquarium, we head to see the birds. We are bird lovers and have a pet parrot. One of the things that we love about the Tennessee Aquarium is all the cool birds. The penguin exhibit is always a popular place and I never get tired of watching them. They are really comical. My sons love checking out the sharks. There is so much to see and do at the aquarium; it is quite an educational experience for children.

Authored by Edgar Guy

Let’s face it – the county fair is one big guilty pleasure.

It is a must-do event on my calendar every summer and has been for most of my adult life. I love watching the 4-H kids show their animals, and I’ve been known to sneak a peak at the lambs, cows and bunnies after the children put them back in the barns. I love the amusement rides, especially the Ferris wheel although I’ve always been a little afraid of heights. And I love the games, even though I often spend more money trying to win than the prizes are worth.

But the truth is there is one thing I like the best — the food. Ok, I know my doctor would tell me that most of it is a little unhealthy, but can eating good stuff ever really be bad? Give me an apple dipped in caramel or a funnel cake sprinkled with powdered sugar. Give me deep-fried veggies or a greasy blooming onion. Give me a huge dip of chocolate ice cream in a waffle cone – with sprinkles, please.

My children love the fair too. They’ve been enjoying the sights and sounds with me for as long as I can remember. And when I take them home, they often want to turn on fox to watch shows about the animals they have seen. As for me, I watch the food channels!

I can’t tell you how happy I am to see more girl games being offered to the girls who were seriously lacking these types of games ten years ago. I know that there has been a big push for more girl games and it looks like they have made a huge attempt to keep the female population of gamers happy and coming back for more.

My 12 year old niece spends a lot of time on her laptop. She is an only child and relies on her computer for a variety of functions in her busy and some times quite hectic pre-teen life in the big city that they had lived in all of her life. I made a tremendous effort to get this girl up and running on the computer at a very early age and she managed to be pretty computer literate before her 3rd birthday. They didn’t have many girl games back then but we managed to find games here and there now and then to keep her entertained and assisted in her education.

If know someone looking for some new girl games I would like to pass along this web site of easygirlgames.com for you to check out and possible pass along to some one looking for a new variety of girl games chock full of “Girl Power”
