My hubby has been riding his Harley every minute he can get in on it! He loves to ride! He’s been talking about taking a vacation together and signing up for some Motorcycle Tours through the Eagle Rider Company website that he found. They rent Harleys, but they also rent ATVs, scooters, snowmobiles, dirt bikes, and watercraft. They offer self-drive tours, guided tours, and one-way specials. Naturally they also sell motorcycles! I’m sure my hubby would love to be an Eagle Rider on our next vacation!

Thursday, July 31st, 2008Saving money on college textbooks
Wednesday, July 30th, 2008I have always thought that college textbooks were/are a major source of income for the colleges that sell them through their campus bookstores, and that they are overpriced. I have always felt like I was being held hostage by them when I was in college. Now that the Internet has come into existence, however, it is a whole new ball game!
I was helping my son last night to order his college textbooks for this upcoming semester. We got the list of books that he needs from the University, and found out what they would cost from their bookstore.
Then we went to the website gettextbooks.com and typed in the ISBM numbers of the books that he needed. That site is a search engine that searches for where you can buy the books. The results come up in a form that shows you where you can buy it and how much it will cost, sorted by price. We found all of his textbooks and ordered them, saving $300!
Good deal!

They offer the lap-band surgery to those clients who have tried every conceivable way to lose weight and have decided that surgery is their only option.
Heart health
Monday, July 21st, 2008I see a lot of news stories lately about people dying from sudden cardiac arrest. More news coverage is happening about taking care of our hearts, and lots of advice has been given out about making sure to eat properly and get proper exercise. There has been a lot of discussion about risk factors and mortality rates. St. Jude Medical has put out a sudden cardiac death video that I just watched and found to be very educational. It is well worth watching.
Now THAT’S a bad day!
Monday, July 21st, 2008I was reading on msnbc.nbc.com this morning that last week, the first day on the job for police officer Tim Pochron in Hobart Indiana did not start well. Twenty nine minutes into his first day, his new squad car was parked outside his house (I don’t know why it was outside his house when he was on the job, that is interesting….) and an intoxicated driver smashed into the squad car, and then a tree. The rear axle of the squad car was bent from the impact.
Not a good way to start a job, is it?
