This morning I had an epiphany! If I ever need a new umbrella, all I have to do is wait for a rainy day and then drive around for a few minutes. Every time I drive in the rain, I see at least one umbrella lying in the road! I don’t know if it there because a smarty-pants kid threw it out of a car window (I have memories of my sister throwing one of my toys out of a moving car window and my parents refusing to stop or turn around even though it was a suburban quiet 25mph road!) or if it is there because the driver had his/her hands full when opening the car door to get into the car and put the umbrella on the roof of the car and then forgot it was there and drove off with the umbrella still on the roof, only to have the umbrella slide off after driving a short distance. Whatever the reason, there are umbrellas in the road every time it rains!

Today I got an email from my web hosting service that it was time to renew for another year. Where does the time go? Seems like just yesterday that I was getting involved in setting up my blog, learning about the different types of web services. I can remember spending quite a bit of time learning about the differences between the providers, learning about managed hosting and colocation services.

I admit that I am a reluctant participant in learning about the technologies involving the Internet. I rather feel like my brain is already full and am afraid that I just won’t retain information that I need in regards to things like that. Thankfully there are resources online to always be able to turn to when I have a brain cramp and refresh my memory when the need arises.

I try my best to do the right thing for our environment. My parents brought us up to respect the earth and they instilled how important recycling is. It always bugs me to see such waste out on the curb each Friday, when on Tuesday mornings there are only a few recycling bins (bins that they city provides for it’s residents, so they are free) sitting on the side of the road waiting to be collected.

Anyway I have been thinking about changing my webhosting to one that is doing what they can to become as “green” as possible and have found that the numbers are growing since becoming “green” is such a big to-do these days. I’ve checked out a few sites that do reviews and ratings on various web hostings and have narrowed it down to a few. SuperGreen will most likely end up getting my business and I’ll most likely get right on it after the fast approaching holidays are done and over with.

Getting myself even “greener” will be a great way to start the New Year!

They look like they are crocheted (I could do that) and they cannot be washed or dry cleaned. The socks have a large fish-net type open-ness to them. I wonder how many pairs of these socks will be sold! What do YOU think of these socks?

Today I decided to play hooky from class today. I went to bed extra late last night and had to get up extra early this morning, and have to go to work later today (and work until 9pm) I was just too tired to go to class. I went to bed so late last night because I had to pick my son up from the airport late (his plane was late, which made it worse) and I had to get up early this morning to take my step-daughter to the airport extra early in the morning this morning – I DID take her to the airport yesterday but her flight was cancelled because of inclement weather so we had to reschedule it for this morning. So I ended up with too little sleep to get through today safely, so I decided to skip class. When I got home from the airport I called my instructor and left a message that I was going to miss class, and I went to bed and took a nice three hour nap! I like naps!

Well, the test I mentioned a few posts ago, I got a 97 out of 100. The teacher said the highest score on the test was a 97, so I guess that was me! I asked him to demonstrate how to get the correct answer to the one question that I missed, and he couldn’t do it! Everyone in the class had gotten that question wrong, and since he couldn’t solve it himself, he decided to “give” everyone 3 points on their test (the equivalent of throwing the question out) which gave me a 100! I was very surprised that I got the highest score, I was sure there were at least two people in the class that would have scored higher than I scored! I’m not complaining, though, it is an ego boost to know I scored the highest!

I was reading on msnbc.nbc.com this morning that last week, the first day on the job for police officer Tim Pochron in Hobart Indiana did not start well. Twenty nine minutes into his first day, his new squad car was parked outside his house (I don’t know why it was outside his house when he was on the job, that is interesting….) and an intoxicated driver smashed into the squad car, and then a tree. The rear axle of the squad car was bent from the impact.

Not a good way to start a job, is it?

Last week was the mid-term exam for the Pharmacy Technician Course that I’m taking. I was really worried about how well I was going to do. It was largely a test where we had to memorize a bunch of measurement conversions, like how many milliliters in an ounce, and a lot of math. I was worried that I was going to have a brain cramp and forget my conversions. So I spent several hours the day before the test writing my own conversion chart over and over and over again.

When the test was passed out I asked the teacher if it was ok if we used a blank scrap piece of paper to write on, to do the math, etc, and he said yes. So I took out a blank piece of paper and as the test started I wrote down the chart that I had been memorizing. What a HUGE HELP that was! I got an “A” on the test, but I KNOW that if I had NOT written down that chart I would not have done as well! The panic factor/brain cramp would have hit and I would have forgotten many of the conversions!
