Don’t have the license yet

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

I am quite surprised that I have not yet received the license yet from the Board of Pharmacy, saying that I’m a registered Pharmacy Tech.  I sent in the paperwork on October 20, and here it is ten days later, and no license.  I think that if I don’t get the license by tomorrow’s mail I’m going to make a phone call and see if they got my application and if there are any problems with it.

Passed the state certification test

Friday, October 24th, 2008

I passed the state certification test last weekend – I was so surprised when I went on line to register for the test that I could take it on a weekend – the last time I checked the site the only times were mid-week.  But a whole bunch of new locations were added, and the closest one to where I live does testing on weekends, so I signed up for the test.  I was really nervous that I would not pass the test, but it was a lot easier than I expected.  They allow an hour to do the test, but I finished it in twenty minutes.  While I was there I met another pharm tech who had just finished the test and she told me it was easy.

I asked her where she worked and she told me it was a CVS in a nearby town.  I asked her how much they paid and she didn’t want to tell me (shame.)  I told her how much I had been paid where I WAS working and her eyes bugged out of her head and she told me that was all I could expect to get paid anywhere.  So that was a disappointment – if I had realized that pharm techs were so poorly paid I probably never would have bothered pursuing that job!

No longer working there

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

Well my boss told me that I wasn’t filling prescriptions fast enough – they only allow thirty seconds to fill a prescription!  Can you believe that?  And she told me that the other ladies were jealous of how quickly I was learning the job and were complaining about me all the time to her, making up lies about me about me being snobbish.  The truth is that I’m shy, and they are interpreting it as being a snob.  Well, long story short I told her that her place was the most hateful, hostile, and unsupportive place I’ve ever worked and wanted to transfer out of there as soon as possible.  Wouldn’t you know it, two days later she fired me under the pretext of my being rude to a customer!  Well, I wasn’t rude, and I’m shocked that I got fired, but I am really glad to be out of there!  I was on the verge of quitting anyway.  So I’m back to driving a school bus until I find a better paying full time job.

Great karma ride

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

Discovered an awesome looking hybrid car called Karma, made by the new automotive company, Fisker, that looks fabulous.

The car runs on a battery charge that last fifty miles and if you need to go further than fifty miles it switches over to gas power for further mileage.

The concept behind the car is that most people do not drive more than fifty miles in a single day, so it would produce zero emissions. That’s great for the environment and easy on the pocket book. Imagine if you never have to pay for gas again.

There is one catch though, and that is the price tag of $80,000. If you like it as much as I do, then start saving now, because they will be coming out in 2010.
