My client wants some phone cards

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

My client in New England wants me to order him some more phone cards for him to use to call his friends in the United Kingdom.  It seems that every time I turn around he is asking me to do something for him!  I guess that’s a good thing for me because he pays me to do these things for him, and I can always use the money!

It just gets a little bit irritating sometimes that he asks me to take care of such simple things sometimes.  It reminds me of a re-run of the Seinfeld show I saw last week when Elaine was hired as a personal assistant to a wealthy man and he kept her busy buying socks.  So busy that she missed out on doing some fun things with the rest of her friends because her boss was so insistent that she take care of the socks errand immediately.  She would bring him some socks and he’d be unhappy with them and make her return them and get different ones.

It DID remind me a little bit of me, sometimes I get irritated at my client’s requests; I have to remind myself that I’m getting paid for it!

Anyway, I’m ordering him the phone cards from the www.therichcom.com website.  That website appears to have the best deals on international phone cards going!  I do recommend that site to anyone who has to buy some prepaid international phone cards!

Baby powder

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

There are three teenagers that ride my bus home in the afternoon.  They are involved in a vocational program where they are training to be firefighters.  This past Friday afternoon they boarded my bus very hot, sweaty, and exhausted.  I asked them about their day and they were very verbal about how hard their day had been, and how hot they were.  I asked them if they had ever been given the tip to put baby powder on their bodies after they shower before they get dressed if they expect to be hot that day.  None of them had heard that, which really surprised me!  So I suggested that they try putting on baby powder after their showers, telling them that they will be a lot more comfortable in hot weather if they follow my advice.  I don’t know if they will follow my advice, but I hope they do!

5.11 Police gear tactical pants on closeout

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

This most recent phone call from my step-daughter she asked us to pay for some 5.11 gear at www.lapolicegear.com.  They are having a closeout sale on some of their tactical pants and she wants to take advantage of the lower prices.  Well, they are a good deal, and it is a good idea to buy things that are on sale or closeout, so we said ok.

More stuff to buy for step-daughter

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

Well my step-daughter called again, looking for us to pay for more of her police gear.  Personally, I’m getting just a little bit tired of her asking for handouts all of the time, but my hubby says that since she is dedicating so much of her free time to taking care of my hubby’s disabled mother he feels that buying her stuff is a small price to pay.  I suppose that’s true, but it is tiring to know that every time she calls she wants a handout!

Credit cards are just part of today’s life

Monday, April 28th, 2008

It seems that it is getting so that credit cards are used more than cash nowadays!  I hardly ever carry any cash with me; I like to get a statement every month that shows me where my money went!  With cash, unless I am really careful to get the receipts and enter that information into my bookkeeping software, I lose track of where my money is going!  I even prefer to use a credit card instead of a check when I am out shopping; when I write a check I often have to show a lot of identification cards and give them my phone number.  With a credit card I just swipe it though their terminal and sign my name!

I think it is very important to keep track of where my money goes as part of my attempts to maintain good credit ratings.  The better your credit rating, the better your chances are to get lower rates on credit cards and loans.  There is a website called www.freecreditscoreonline.com that helps consumers to check their credit rates and their credit eligibility for credit cards that offer rewards and low rates.  The following is a press release I was given about the website:

Credit cards with rewards are the most hunted-after offers. These plastics are considered to be very beneficial as they let cardholders earn a percentage of cash back, rebates, gift certificates, free services, etc.
Visa is the credit card company that offers a great number of credit cards with rewards. You can find offers with cash back, free air miles, cards that give discounts in hotels and stores, gasoline credit cards. Visa rewards cards are very popular among the consumers as this company does its best to adjust to every card holder’s needs.
Take for instance, PetRewards Visa. This card is specially designed for pet lovers. The card let pet owners to reduce pet-related expenses and earn bonus points for every dollar spent in participating pet retailers, animal food stores, and vet clinics.
Another beneficial offer from Visa is Chase Amazon.com Platinum card. This card is perfect choice for those who often shop online. It gives you 3 bonus points for every dollar you spend at Amazon.com, plus you will get 1,500 bonus points after your first purchases. Other benefits of the offer are no annual fee and 0% Intro APR for six months.
You can find more information about Visa rewards cards at FreeCreditScoreOnline.com. Take your chance to benefit from credit, apply for a plastic with rewards.
